Tyler joined ‘an estimated 11,000 Santa Clarita Valley sixth- and seventh-graders, local educators, business people, dignitaries and residents at College of the Canyons’ Cougar Stadium Friday morning, in an apparently successful attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest percussion ensemble’ called Rock the Rhythm, Beat the Odds.
…the attempt called for all hands playing their Remo “sound shape” percussion devices continuously for five minutes.
More than 7,500 students with sound shapes were on the stadium field, seated in sections designated for each school, and wearing colorful “Rock the Rhythm, Beat the Odds” commemorative T-shirts imprinted with their school’s name. Braving the bright sunshine and temperatures in the upper 70s, the students followed the “BOOM-a-bump-a-BOOM-BOOM-BOOM” rhythm set down by Hart, who directed the huge ensemble from a riser on a stage set up in front of the home spectator stands, where another 3,500-4,000 local residents joined in the jam.
Read more about the event at the source: Hometown Station Santa Clarita Radio and Rock the Rhythm. You can also watch a tiny clip from the event here.

I’ve added a few pictures of Tyler and L.i.K band-member, Alex Gertsh getting their drumming on. Photos courtesy of College of the Canyons and Rock the Rhythm.

Tyler’s mother, Cyndi Garcia, talked to Mamiverse – an online community for Latina mothers and families – about raising a child star.
Mamiverse: When did the acting bug bite Tyler?
Garcia: I would have to say around 3 years old. He started dressing up as characters and acting out scenes from his favorite movies. I’ll always remember coming home one day and finding him standing over an open guitar case filled with all his toy guns (most of which were water guns). He was in his Ninja Turtle undies wearing cowboy boots with a toy gun in each hand. He was acting out a scene from the Robert Rodriguez movie Desperado acting out Antonio Banderas’ role in the film. He had the accent down and everything. I think he was around four.
Tyler’s dad is an actor and one day his commercial agent asked us if Tyler would like to start auditioning for commercials. We asked Tyler and he said okay. He was five at the time and he booked his first commercial at six. It was a PSA (public service announcement) spot. He loved it, and he’s been acting professionally ever since.
Mamiverse: Do you still get to spend a lot of quality time with him?
Garcia: Quality yes. Quantity no! Haha! I just got back from visiting with him in Atlanta, that’s where they shoot Teen Wolf. We had a really nice time. He opened up his weekend for me. We went out to dinner every night, and we watched movies together. It was very relaxing. I also spent a couple of days on set with him. I always love to watch him work. He was very sweet to hang with me in between takes.
When he’s home we all make sure to spend as much time together as possible. Tyler has two brothers, Derek and Jesse, and they are all best friends. We like to have a lot of family gatherings. When he does events in Los Angeles he likes to include us as much as possible. We’re a really tight fambam!

As promised I’ve added a few more pics of Tyler and Colton at ‘America’s Best Dance Crew’ taping from last weeek.

MTV put up this little video from backstage where they were interviewed along with the rest of the ABDC contestants.

Also check out this snippet from a behind-the-scenes article from Glamor.
Tyler Posey, a self-admitted “big fan” of ABDC, said that getting to go to the taping was “one of the perks of working for MTV. Plus, I’m good friends with the last winners.”

Tyler and
Teen Wolf co-star, Colton Haynes were in the audience for the May 11th taping of ‘America’s Best Dance Crew’ (to air on Wednesday, May 16th).
While Stephanie Pratt of “The Hills” was busy throwing support behind fellow MTV star DJ Pauly D and his latest musical pursuits this weekend, two “Teen Wolf” actors took to the “ABDC” audience to see for themselves which of the show’s final five crews could best handle the music of Pitbull. It’s Colton Haynes’ and Tyler Posey’s secret to keep for now, but what we do know for sure is last season’s runners-up, ICONic Boyz, definitely gave each a run for their money in the opening number.

I expect more pics to come out after the episode airs.

The Paley Center for Media in Los Angeles will be the location for a screening and discussion panel of the Teen Wolf Season 2 premiere on May 23rd at 9pm Pacific Time. All the main cast will be in attendance, including executive producer Jeff Davis, to talk about the upcoming season.
Join us as we celebrate the season two premiere of MTV’s critically acclaimed hit series Teen Wolf with a preview screening, followed by a panel discussion with the show’s cast and creative team. The reinvented classic werewolf tale is set against the backdrop of contemporary teen life with a forbidden, romantic love story at its core, making it a fresh and different take on the iconic movie.
For any fan that can make it to the Paley Center in LA, this is a recommended event. Paley panels are known to have fan interaction, and you get to see the premiere early!
For the rest of us that can’t make it, Paley events usually have live streams of the discussion panel (not the actual episode screening), so I’ll be on the lookout for that and pass on more information as it comes along.
Tickets went on sale May 9th for $15. Buy tickets here.
