Teen Wolf Producers talk About Cast to Ology
Ology talked to Teen Wolf’s executive producer, Jeff Davis, and director, Russel Mulcahy about the cast and the show:
What went into casting Tyler Posey?
JEFF: I have to say, when Tyler Posey walked in, he had this quality to him-
RUSSELL: The ‘It’ Factor! He’s very hard to get out of your head once he walks into a room.
JEFF: I think he brings a very innocent quality to Scott, but he can also have a quality of danger as well. He’s an excellent actor, and I think our target audience of 12-34 year old girls are gonna fall in love with him! I think he’s got the kind of appeal to reach out beyond the show.
So what was it like taking all of these young and relatively unknown actors and creating this final product?
JEFF: You hope for the best and hope that all of these different personalities will connect… and we got the best. They became the best of friends- Dylan and Tyler Posey in particular. Before the pilot was even shot, I emailed Tyler and said “Hey, you guys are supposed to look like best friends so you might want to start hanging out with Dylan just a few times to get that kind of familiarity,” and he told me that they had already been hanging out and they literally turned into the best of friends during the show! So I feel like we struck gold with the cast- they’re a very tight group that still hangs out together all of the time. You hear such horror stories in Hollywood, but they’re such good people outside of the show that I had to warn them, “If the show becomes a massive hit, please don’t all become monsters… I’ll kill you all!”
