The 'White Frog' Cast

First of all, this is really late. Sorry about that, I’ve been down with the flu. The good news is over the past few days, pictures, reviews and video have surfaced from the World Premiere in San Francisco, on March 8th. From the feedback on Twitter, the audience really loved the movie, and I’ve heard that Tyler’s character, Doug is rather funny. Can’t wait till the movie becomes available in theatres!

Check out part of a review from WideLantern.com

I shed man tears by the time the credits rolled. This is a testament to Booboo Stewart as an actor. He gave an astonishing performance. Don’t worry, this is not a sad or overly dramatic movie; it’s a character-driven film with multiple unexpected, funny moments.

The first few minutes are properly spent introducing the main characters, setting up the world they live in, and establishing the tone for the rest of the film. By the last few minutes, I felt that I had experienced a complete journey undertaken by beloved characters. That, to me, is what makes the film great.

The Castro Theater was really packed. I heard it was a sold-out show, and I was impressed with the level of enthusiasm from the crowd — laughter and cheers throughout the film. I could’ve sworn I heard girls (and boys) swoon during Harry Shum Jr.’s shirtless scenes! Overall, I loved the vibe from the audience, which is what makes going to the movies a special experience.

I want to conclude with a big congratulations to cast and crew for making such a great indie film. I expect the movie will go far in the festival circuit, so for those who haven’t seen it yet, seek it out when it arrives in town.

White Frog Director On the Movie, New Still

‘White Frog’ director, Quentin Lee, spoke to Gay.net about the movie and shed a bit more light on what the story was about. We also got a new still of Tyler and Boo Boo Stewart.

GAY.NET: What is White Frog about?
Quentin Lee: White Frog is an emotional teen drama about a 15-year-old boy (Booboo Stewart) with Asperger’s who has to step up for himself and his family after his beloved older brother (Harry Shum Jr.) dies unexpectedly. White Frog is about being different and how we come to terms with difference, whether you are gay, Asian or have Asperger’s.

So how’s White Frog different from all the gay or “minority-themed” movies out there?
White Frog is very much a gateway movie about dealing with difference for people on both coasts, in the red states and in even more conservative countries. It will probably be my broadest and first “PG” movie about very unique characters. Every one of my past features was either R-rated or unrated. With White Frog, I’ve strived to make an emotional and entertaining movie with both veteran and up-and-coming talents. So I’m really excited about having new audiences discover my work.

  • Dylan O’Brien spoke to Hollywood Crush about the upcoming season, and while he mostly spoke about Stiles, he did mention this:

“Scott and Stiles are probably going to take the superhero route a little more almost, over the fact that he’s a werewolf and ‘let’s start using it’ kind of thing. Like, use it or lose it, right? Except you can’t lose the bite. Something like that…” – source
